Kecak Dance

Kecak privilege of not relying on instruments to accompany the dance, but a chorus of dancers. Kecak dance is also known as Kecak and Fire Dance. These last show a kind of bonus that can invite the audience amazed.


Kecak dance is a traditional Balinese performing arts which was created in 1930 by Wayan Limbak who worked with German painter Walter Spies (reference from Wikipedia), played by dozens of men who sit in rows with a certain rhythm and a circular calling for the word "cak" and raised his hands.

Unlike the other traditional dance which is usually uses the tools of traditional music, the Kecak dance there is absolutely no musical instrument to accompany, but said "cak .. cak .. cak .. cak" which called for a Meandering with rhythm laid out in such a way that produces a very harmonious choir and sounded beautiful.


Kecak dance art describes the role of "The play Puppets (Lakon Pewayangan)" as Rama Shinta and not specifically used in religious rituals. These forms of "sacred" in the Kecak dance is usually the case kerauhan or masolah, which is not immune to fire magic. However, Kecak itself actually comes from Sanghyang ritual, in which dancers will feel in unconscious condition, and to communicate with God or the spirits of the ancestors and then convey their expectations to the public.
